Black Wolf Youth Agency (BWYA) is our industry partner, they serve on our advisory committee, and they are at the
forefront of developing youth for the Marketing sector.
BWYA embraces collaboration between industry and academia to create skilled marketing graduates. Their
understanding of both the marketing curriculum and industry requirements makes them the ideal partner to develop
programmes to empower our marketing students.
The academic marketing department at CPUT as benefits immensely from collaborating with BWYA on the Brand
Marketing Challenge, designed by BWYA, together with their clients, with its foundation in project-based learning. This is
an authentic problem, that engages students in interdisciplinary learning. It encourages students to work collaboratively, to share ideas and to decide on a strategy that will achieve the desired outcome of the project. BWYA provides students
with the support and guidance throughout the project that mirrors the world of work. Upon evaluation of the project
students indicated that they developed a broader set of knowledge and skills and that they had valued the guidance
provided by BWYA.
BWYA also led the launch of the CPUT, Marketing Society providing a further link between academia and marketing
professionals that will facilitate a network for students in the marketing industry.
The BWYA’s collaborative projects has bridged the widening gap between academia and industry and provided
marketing students with the much-needed professional skills that will make them sort after in the Marketing industry.

BMC
The brand marketing challenge is a great opportunity to gain real life industry experience from an agency point of view. If
one knows that they won’t be able to get placement or an internship they need not to worry because with the BMC they
still gain knowledge and an opportunity of working on a marketing campaign , that many don’t get to experience.
I am now able to think more critically and know where to apply what I’ve learnt to through my years of study.
I learned to work more efficiently and timely . Learnt skills on leadership and how to channel my creativity

BMC
The Brand Marketing Challenge is a great start to get the feel of being or working in an environment that is fast paced with campaigns that has deadlines. At first it may seem challenging but as your mentors direct and briefs you on what needs to
be done, it will be less challenging and more exciting. Its always good and beneficial to ask for help when you feel
overwhelmed or lost. Never be afraid to ask for help!
The BMC has helped me professionally in a way that I now understand how it feels to work with others and slowly let go of
the anxious introverted person I always was. When you realise that at some point someone started exactly where you have,
you start to feel a little more confident each day knowing that you are growing as a person and growing within your career
choice. It’s also amazing to work with others and hear their ideas with your own and watch it unfold into something beautiful
and get awarded for it. It has taught me how to manage my time effectively, communicate with my teammates, lay all your
ideas on the table and take on each challenge knowing that you are trying your best because growth is beautiful and
awarding!
I have learned that communication is key! Not only communication but comprehension too. Always make sure that
everyone is on the same page. Make sure that when you get briefed, you understand what needs to be done and make
sure your teammates understand too. Get started right away, and have fun with it. Be creative and think outside of the box.

BWE
I would encourage someone to intern with BWE, as it would be a good stepping stone to learn. I learnt many valuable
lessons as an intern that I do believe has set me in good stead for my professional future.
I have since moved on from BWE but at the time I was studying full-time and BWE gave me the flexibility I wanted to
explore the silos within marketing. I explored where I wanted to specialise and once I had learnt all I could within my
specialty I happily moved on but am always grateful for where I began.
Definitely grab the opportunity to intern at BWYA. If you’re looking for great experience within the Digital Marketing
sphere, Black Wolf Youth Agency will give you this.

BWE
It gave me great exposure to the different facets that Digital Marketing entails. From social media and content production
to website development and account management.
My skills-set grew at an exponential rate, giving me the confidence and
clarity to pursue what I really enjoy within the industry, which ultimately is account management and building professional
relationships with clients.
